Anyone else feel caught somewhere between Elizabeth Warren and Andrew Yang? I guess I want Americans to have health care and a modest UBI paid for with a 2% wealth tax (rather than a VAT).

Why do you think a wealth tax is superior to a VAT?

I think a VAT is simpler because it applies to transactions which are easier to measure and thus tune & enforce. Lots of wealth is on paper and thus slippery. I asked these questions about wealth I thought were hard to answer.https://twitter.com/_StevenFan/status/1180246412832858112 …

VAT is just patently regressive, though. Even with exclusions and extra for luxury goods, it's far more regressive than even a simple across the board income tax increase.

Would the method of funding not matter as long as the numbers work out so the bottom benefits sufficiently?
