What got me there the quickest was 1) Javascript: The Good Parts. Even though it's pretty old it's concise, well written, and the railroad diagrams make possible syntax abundantly clear.
Know enough javascript now that random code snippets on blogs aren't intimidating.

Spent a good amount of time before all this on advanced fundamentals like scope, promises, this, apply/call/bind, closures, but it felt disjoint without the grounding in the basic fundamentals.
