Kid in my DMs: what’s it like being an adult? Me: It’s fantastic. I have (enough) money, I have time, I have freedom, I’m stronger, smarter & more sensitive than I’ve ever been; have more & better friends. I can now manage multiple projects when I struggled with individual tasks

Kid: how did you do that Me: persistence, lots of journaling, lots of reading and writing, seeking out and talking with the best people I could find. Had a great boss. I wasn’t even that obsessive about it; I had many shitty periods of self-loathinghttps://twitter.com/visakanv/status/1097402088961695744?s=21 …

Looking back now I don’t think I was efficient or effective at all. I just bungled through it and kept persisting in the long run. I started writing
@1000wordvomits in 2012. If I did 1 a day, I’d have finished it around 2015. I’m ~76% done. Sometimes I was down and out for months1 reply 1 retweet 14 likesShow this thread -
I can think of lots of other ways in which I was really inefficient and ineffective. I kept trying to compensate for past disappointment by biting off more than I could chew, by overcommitting and hoping I would rise to the occasion - and then fail miserably. Extremely unwisepic.twitter.com/IoBJo2J4E1

Kid: I can’t even do my homework Me: tbh I could never do my homework either. Even now if you asked me to do homework I’d probably just procrastinate and make twitter threads instead. What do you do when *you* procrastinate? My naughty advice is to find a way to make $ from thatpic.twitter.com/QT7dHFZJCF
