Random question I've struggled with: As a software developer, when do you start counting your "experience"?
Example (my case, in years):
When you started a full-time "coding" job? (6)
Your first technical job (some code)? (8)
When you started whole-hog learning to code? (10)

I struggle with it too. Post-coding job, counting years makes some sense because a coding job should* serve as a minimum demonstration of competence and value delivery. Pre-coding job: measure by counting projects, libraries known, practices used. Both are shorthands either way.
