potential reasons for - as a journal, as breadcrumbs - pique curiosity - antidote for doubt - contribution to a postmodern contemplative/Buddhist commentary - global sanga formation, connecting practitioners started to generalize to talking about contemplative practice generally
@techgnostic @soyoungsuyoung @arealjim Meditation peeps, what do you all think of talking about meditative attainments in the public forum? e.g. Twitter.

potential reasons against - words alone are not enough - reify the wrong thing - illegible, confusing - trickier to emphasize correctly - language is overloaded - polarizing *when I went further generating this list [I edited down], items got more paranoid

reasons neither for nor against - twitter as tantra**, I've been using it as exposure therapy and lab for understanding my psychology and motivation, seeing what inhibits flow and being present **using this loosely, not solid on definition

There are a couple reasons it may be best to keep experiences to oneself. However, I don’t think sharing meditation experience is a uniformly negative thing.
-
I think I'm going to just share my meditation experiences more generally. It's an energy and conversation that I can bring to the world with little downside.

I think we're going to have to start talking about it publicly. Imagine if people talked about gymnastics and completely refused to discuss backflips. The trick is to establish a discourse that takes the purely subjective experience of attainment into account for quality control.
-
This tweet made me realize there is opportunity to speak about practice in an ordinary way, to create a base of operation for that discourse. Push-ups and laps b4 backups but not excluding it. <3 Thanks Jim!

I often think of Ted Berrigan’s admonition to young poets. “If you show your works to jerks, you will get a jerk's response. This may hurt you. It's all right to be hurt, but not if it interferes with the serious business of your being a poet.”
