Something that I think would increase ChatGPT capacity to collaborate with human teams (and that will inevitably happen): letting you invite other people into your ChatGPT chats, or letting it join a Slack or Teams channel.

The five AI tools/companies that I rely on everyday: 1 - @feedly (OSINT) 2 - @MageSpace_ (visual media generation) 3 - @play_ht (audio media generation) 4 - @OpenAI (ideation) 5 - Narrative Device (worldbuilding) [from @_rodolfoocampo] Each has a surprisingly distinct use case.

If all our students submit their work using ChatGPT (and other AI apps), while we (as faculty) use automatic assessment marking, does that mean we can all just go outside and play, learn and create like we're supposed to in higher education, and let the machines fight it out?

I recently read (Sagan) that the process of encephalisation in humans (brain growth) was the single most accelerated evolutionary change recorded in a single species. Cognitive expansion cycles accelerate very quickly due to positive tool-cognition feedback loops.

Bipedalism freed up our hands to make tools that allowed us to grow bigger brains which allowed us to make more tools which allowed us to grow bigger brains. Recently, these brains grow outside ourselves and are tools themselves. And so the Cycle continues, accelerated 1/n

I suspect the widespread reduction of social interactions in simple settings will be disastrous for mental health. Also: automation is one of the biggest drivers of inequality (Piketty). Let’s pause and think how to integrate automation to benefit people and not only profit.

The engineering capacity of Google is unparalleled and I highly doubt they will sit and watch as a factually reliable and web connected ChatGPTtakes over search. Plus, Google is better positioned to create a factually reliable, scalable dialogue LLM.

Prediction: Google will come out with a ChatGPT style interface for search in 2023. I suspect they are working on it with LaMDA as we speak. I’m bullish on Google stock (but MS also in the off chance that ChatGPT makes it into Bing and Ms + OpenAI win the search game).

This is going to happen in 2023.

Here's a prediction: before 2030, there will be a Dall-E for music. I am not saying it is a good or a bad thing, but there will be one, as it is part of the multimodal research agenda of AI labs. Perhaps we should anticipate it and start thinking about what it will implicate.

If in 5 years we don't use a conversational systems to find information online more than textbook query-based search engines, I will eat one whole raw habanero on video and post it here.

People who say that systems like ChatGPT aren't the future of searching information think we mean the current version. We mean that this beta points towards the direction in which we will interact with web information after multiple iterations and years of refinement.

People used to find information by going to a library, asking the librarian for help and consulting a few books. Now we type a query into a search engine that points us to a link. In <10 years, we will have full natural language conversations with the web.

Google is web information indexing based on link relevance with a text box interface. ChatGPT is semantic web information indexing with a conversational interface. If ChatGPT can index the web at the same or similar rates, then it will be a superior replacement

ChatGPT is very likely going to make Google mostly obsolete. Why would you keep inputting search prompts on a text bar and navigate dozens of results when you can get a system to explain to you the same information in a conversation?

ChatGPT is not (only) about the model, it’s (mainly) about the UI/X. Many shared their amazement at capabilities that have been here for year(s); because ChatGPT’s UI made them accessible… Reinforcing the idea that AI deployment is more about product than research at this point.

So why are artists/photographers/designers whose content/art was used to train Dall-E not suing OpenAI? Honestly would love to see the outcome of that. We inevitably will need new royalty and attribution models.

If anything, human-AI collaboration should enable us to spend less time (but more productive and creative) in front of the computer, so we can spend more time in nature, moving and with people. This is my goal, 4-hour workdays for everyone!
