I think it's a little more distributed across multiple platforms now. Polycount is still a great place to post, but it feels like the activity is a bit lower than it used to be. A lot of the pros tend to lurk more than post too.

Having spoken with a number of veterans, a lot of them seem to have retreated to their little corners (FB & Twitter) after an influx of students and newbies...some of whom weren't super interested in actually learning. Go figure.
