Maybe they feel that to really compete with twitch they need a standalone product that isn’t focused on just ‘gaming’ the IRL side of twitch is massive and people don’t really want to see that under YouTube gaming? 100% speculative though
Hmmm, an interesting theory. If they perhaps had come to the conclusion that YouTube wasn't a strong enough brand on it's own for streaming, but more as a VOD service, I could see that. Throwing in Spotify as a potential secondary is what makes that rumor truly intriguing.
