I love my engineering buddies...but when one of them complains that they ‘only’ got offered a $92k starting salary for an ENTRY LEVEL position, it’s tough to feel truly sympathetic. 
To their credit, I’m pretty sure they’d be equally disgusted to know what artists make.

its a different scale, engineers can pretty much go anywhere. they can go do boringass jobs for tons of money. Artists not as much, especially once you start specializing We come in being glad to have a job since theres only so many to go around so we`re afraid to talk salary

Yep. The sad reality of the game industry is that no one truly ‘needs’ to be in game dev. It’s classified as passion work and unfortunately pays accordingly. I definitely wish our skill sets were as in demand in those boringass jobs to leverage in compensation too. Maybe someday.
