Thinking Blizzard would take any other action over the hearthstone player using that platform to spread a political message means you're either delusional, naive or too altruistic to see facts & reality. Those things require learning on your behalf, that's why it's frustrating.

The CCP strong-arming of foreign entities with social credit is a route we really don't want to go down. Blizzard preemptively kowtowing/self-censoring to a despotic, human-rights abusing government is so limp-dicked I'm embarrassed for them and anyone that thinks it's cool.

Youre thinking like a good human being! To think a business or board collective of a multi billion dollar company would though, we both know that will never happen.

I don't really accept that, I think it's defeatist. In addition to believing that from little things big things grow, I also agree with the baser concept of business being beholden to shareholders who are just people.

Is it not pretty easy to understand that they are going to choose the 'Risk management' option here and protect the company and the livelihoods of those employed within it over the large and potential unknowns that come with the alternative?

There's different risks though. Blizzard obviously want a bob each way with western/eastern markets, each with their own challenges. I don't actually know whether it's as clear cut as you present it - are western markets ready to roll over to dominion by china? I guess we'll see.

You’re right, there are different risks involved. For example, Blizzard has employees currently IN China they have to consider who could very easily be harassed, detained, and vanished by the Chinese government should Blizzard act too rashly... Peoples lives are at stake here.
