Ancient texts have been studied, deities have been prayed to, monks have been sought after, and rituals performed- yet none of them can answer why someone would choose to model in Maya.

I just don’t understand how this is the go to tool for the industry.
Short answer? Animators. Animators get intractably defensive about using almost anything other than Maya. Granted, what they're able to do in Maya is pretty stunning so....
