But all shenanegans aside Ive used both on and off for a decade and theyboth get on my nerves. But i felt like max lent itself better to environment and hardsurface type worm. While maya felt more fluid for character or organic work w/ hot box and UV options readily available

Dan speaks truth! I used to be a VERY reluctant Maya user (all Max), until I realized how insanely well the Overwatch team utilizes Maya and the tools Autodesk has quietly overhauled over the years. Maya's UV toolset alone is worth the switch.
