Oh dude, I got you! There's a couple options: EVERSPACE - Good solid arcadey space combat sim from an indie team Sins of a Solar Empire - More of the Civilizations 4X type gameplay and resource management, but the battles are awesome!

Rebel Galaxy - Space pirates, broadside cannons, and rock n' roll. You pilot a single ship, but that can range up from frigate to giant capital ship. The sequel they're building looks nuts! Homeworld 1&2 Remaster - An AMAZING 3-axis space battle RTS title. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Galactic Civilizations III - A true 'Civilizations, but in Space!' game. The battles are pretty wild and the ship customization system is very deep for your entire fleet.
