While there is something to be said about having an internet presence, new artists only caring about views and "relevant" artists can miss out on a whole lot.
100% this! I've run into a number of younger artists that are so hungry for their 'art idols' approval, recognition, and process that they're completely missing the solid-gold opportunity in the feedback and critique of their peers.

Where does one get critiques nowadays? I've recently gotten back into illustration and I'm not sure where I could go for peer feedback - I used to post on deviantart but that wasnt super helpful back then either.
