I've been making myself learn how to hard-surface sculpt in zBrush today and boy... this is gonna take some time

Aye, it’s tricky! You’re likely doing better than you think you are, but If you ever feel like you’re stuck on making clean shapes, just shoot me a message and I can give a brief overview in a gchat or something. The more we know, the more we can pass on that sweet knowledge!

I'm not stuck, I'm just soooo slowwwww. Something I could make in Maya in like 30 minutes takes me hours in Zbrush. It's just a learning curve

Oh nice, that’s great to hear!
I actually do a little bit up jumping back and forth between Max and ZBrush too, because like you said, sometimes it’s just easier to bust out the shape you need in a standard platform. I do wish it went quicker though to get the nice results.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like -

I'm pretty much a full zbrush convert. I barely model in max/maya anymore. other than maybe some basic clean up. I used to be all about goz but now just being able to handle everything in one program is my shiiit.

Agreed! I still a good bit of the actual UV mapping “puzzle piecing” in Max after unwrapping super fast in 3DCoat, but that’s pretty much it. Maya and Max are basically just a staging area for the lowpoly OBJs at this point. I love sticking to one program for 95% of the workload.
