Hah, I JUST had this happen too!
I think it has something to do with the funky way that Windows deals with a program "thinking" - instead of just letting it do it's thing, It'll mark it as unresponsive and give you that screen. Giving it a minute can sometimes solve it.

That makes sense. I was about to close out the program when it recovered. I'll definitely wait it out next time since it may not crash.
