I dig this discussion and I have an honest question: does that not make it somewhat more true to a trans experience? We're assigned a biological sex at birth (character creation) and then we get to define whatever gender or non-gendered role we outwardly prefer/exhibit?
Granted I doubt the system will actually extend that far, but I think the exploration of gender in a cyberpunk setting is fascinating. Would the current setup be more satisfying for NB if you could choose either "body" and then gender just chosen as "non-binary" or similar?
I can't speak for NB people since I'm actually pretty binary, but one issue I have is mainly that they are adults and they already have a backstory. If they were actually NB in this world of body mods there is a good chance that they would have already transitioned by that age.
Also, intersex people exist, and they often do not fall into the binary either, even at birth. Making the character customization free form resolves both of these situations pretty elegantly and still lets people who want to transition in their playthrough do it too.
