Is spending almost a week on an art test somehow uncommon? I just recently did 2 that were both roughly 30h :/
It kinda depends on your discipline actually. A 2D artist might be given 48 hours or a couple days, whereas 3D artists commonly end up with test projects that take upwards of two weeks...which are also usually unpaid.
