The problem isn't that women had a minimal role in either world war, it's the fact that people keep trying to shoehorn in PC characters where they make no sense, historically. Having female G.I.s in WW2 was never a thing, and yet people harass the devs into doing it.
OR! ....Or....the game devs just want to add interesting and varied characters into their games? Imagine the AUDACITY of creative people wanting to make something neat that many people can relate to.
