I'm just going to go ahead & drop the link to my new adult dark dystopian book which inspired this tweet. Though it didn't start out as 'draft' but rather 'insert catchy title here' which let's all agree, is WAY better

I use Google Docs. Every single keystroke is recorded. I hated the times that my laptop crashed, I lost a thumb drive. or I started to edit an older copy. When I absolutely have to keep something I keep it there. It's free and easy. Plus they are using Grammarly now. Sweet!

I only recently discovered that and it saved me with recovering some old work!!

This is my pet peeve in personal and business projects. Why don’t people save everyone confusion, extra work, and potentially $$$ by including a date in the doc name? Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Dude I had a coworker send me a spreadsheet with the doc name and then “FORREAL” at the end. I told her I thought it was missing something. She sent me the wrong one. The newest one was “(doc name) FORREAL FORREAL 3” In the workplace. I wanted to cry.

This right here is why I want to develop a version control system for writers. So they don't need this, they just get a useful tree of all of the changes.
-
I guess, to those who don't know my whole story: I was a writer (I wrote the tweetdeck guide for writers way back in 2010), am now a software developer, and I totally think there's some great ideas in software that writers could use.
-
I went from software engineer to writer and feel the same
