Do I finally ditch my CDs and go digital, or do I buy a nice little system and persevere?

I had Radiohead on earlier, playing a CD for the first time in a while. When Street Spirit came on, I could really feel Thom Yorke's voice without the distraction of the internet and there's something really sentimental in the act of finding, cleaning and playing a full album.

I have records in the front room and listen to a 22 minute side on return from a walk. I have digital in the back room for an evening chill out.

I repackaged thousands of CD's and DVD's into soft clear envelopes, 20 sacks of plastic went to recycling, got an entire room of my house back and felt like I was in control again. Have developed obsessive cataloguing tendencies instead.

Also, listening to an album in the way that the artist and producer curated it is different to picking and choosing tracks.

Totally agree. Listening to an full album is an experience. It’s too easy to skip and curate in instant digital culture.

Keep them. I regret putting all mine in a big box and leaving them outside my house for people to take. … at least someone else is using them though.
