Portfolio work aside. Showing knowledge/understanding of the industry/companies practicing in it. More important than a gimmicky mailer. Can be quite telling if it’s genuinely a passion or just a job. Remember @OfficeOfCraig sending out ’12in12’ v-memorable, still got my copy!
