Advance praise from Thomas Ligotti for my next book: "TO ROUSE LEVIATHAN is one of those rare books that produces the most important reaction one can have to a work of, let us say, the literature of abomination: 'From where could this marvel have come?'"

Wisdom from Lovecraft for this US election year: "All life is only a set of pictures in the brain, among which there is no difference betwixt those born of real things and those born of inward dreamings, and no cause to value the one above the other." IOW: Pass the popcorn.

"Teeth" by , from his collection "To Rouse Leviathan", published by , is one of the best and cosmic fiction I've read. After "An Abhorrence to All Flesh" and "Notes of a Mad Copyist", this is another terrifying story with a brutal prose.

I just realized that Nicolas Cage's movie career is a hypersigil that's still being created. From WILD AT HEART and RAISING ARIZONA to MANDY and those jaw-dropping WICKER MAN and LEFT BEHIND remakes. One sprawling mystic evocation. I feel strangely relieved.

Well, there you have it. We're officially living in a dystopian science fiction novel. (In all fairness to Ring and Android, this has been true for some time now.) (I only add the foregoing disclaimer to placate the great omniscient gods Ring and Android.)

Finished reading THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY OF BENVENUTO CELLINI yesterday. It may be the most purely entertaining autobiography I've ever read. (Well, either that, or the one by Neil Patrick Harris, who wrote his as a choose-your-own-adventure book.)

Lovely article here: "In ancient Greece, a rhapsode did not read from a book...He *was* the book...Silent reading of the sort we practice with our books and laptops and cellphones was once considered outlandish, a mark of eccentricity."
