Also no chance to withdraw cash if banks fail like in the UK. Needs to be weighed up the likelihood of that.

I live in Singapore and this is a long way from the truth. It’s far truer of the UK and Canada, with contactless payment we needed NO cash for the 6 weeks we spent there.

After moving from Australia, I had be re-educated about needing a cheque book again. Have written 10 cheques in 6 weeks. Far from advance compared to other financial systems. Don’t start me about the pain to open a bank account (major impediment to having a cashless society)
