Imagine if fans supported their team while in blackface, pointed out. There would be outrage. Yet many look past redface or the wearing of headdresses. "It serves to dehumanize native people," she said.

Hi, yes, since it's the I thought I'd share a list of books you can read that give an accurate view of Indigenous peoples because, well, we wrote them. Racist mascots aren't truth tellers. They stir up hate & discrimination. Read some books instead:

We’re not asking people not to love football, or their city, or a legacy, or their families traditions. We’re just asking people to stop using Native imagery as mascots. These two things can exist at the same time. The name can change, the allegiance to your movement can stay.

Let’s not. Time to rebrand the team and step away from these kinds of chants and actions which are racist and keep Indigenous people in a ‘fantasy’ realm instead of treated as people with a real and respected culture

This looks incredibly wrong in 2020. Origin of the name wasn't even to honor Native peoples 😬😬😬
