It was great working with on their new climate change video.
Presents 4 arguments that have stifled action:
1. Climate change is not real
2. It's real but not caused by humans
3. It's real but not that bad
4. It's no longer avoidable

Many are in step 4: that we're doomed.
This message is not only wrong, it's unhelpful. It causes us to withdraw, reject, hide.
We should be inspiring people to take action: being honest that it will take a lot of work, but it's possible. And we can build a better world from it.

This is great! I am a huge fan of you both, World in Data and their videos (and my son has watched them all multiple times). Personally, I think there is a fifth argument there. But, all good!

I've never met a climate denial argument that wasn't a variant of one of these five categories, all aimed at preventing action:
1/ It's not real
2/ It's not us
3/ It's not bad
4/ We can't fix it (and here's why)
5/ It's too late

Thanks Katharine! Mutual fans.
And you're right: there is also a common fifth argument!

climate change is no longer avoidable is a statement of fact. there's no way to express this in human thought differently. it is something that already occurred in the past, and it's been an ongoing and increasingly damaging process since then.
It's too bad this video doesn't cover, "MYTH #5 — We can build our way out."
The fact is that we passed sustainable levels of human and economic activity, for any form of egalitarian advanced human civilization, based on any existing or readily foreseeable technologies, ~1930.
