    A big salute to the staff of the Gazette, who despite being traumatized and losing staffers to death and injury, vowed that the next day’s edition would come out, and they worked at home and got it out.

    Sometimes I forget how much Ellen went through. She was publicly shamed, her career railroaded, her father told her to leave his home because he feared she’d molest his other children, her show cancelled, and had to face homophobes on national television to defend her sexuality.

    We have kids in cages, families being put into concentration camps, the Supreme Court altered for an entire generation, a degredation of rights for women, minorities, LGBTQIA+ people, & that's all off the top of my head. I can judge people for their shitty vote if I fucking want.

    I’m telling you why I don’t trust her. I know what money does in our politics. It’s not even necessarily her fault because that’s how the system Is set up. It’s a corrupting system. However I like Bernie because I know what he believes and I agree with him for the most part.

    Most of your criticisms of Gillibrand are not based in reality. You're criticizing her because you FEEL she's not as genuine in her views as your (white, male) candidate. Yes, those feelings are often based on internalized misogyny and the idea that women are less trustworthy.

    Everyone lives in their own bubble and not everyone can be aware all the time of how other people feel. That being said just because someone criticizes a woman doesn’t make that criticism inherently sexist. Women can be criticized too.

    "I SUPPORT WOMEN, JUST NOT THIS WOMAN" is going to be the mantra that keeps women out of higher office, because it appropriates the language of equality to halt the progress of women who achieve success. It functions off the impossible premise of perfection.

    This is what I'm talking about. I really don't care one way or another about Sanders because I'm not emotionally invested in politicians. But at some point, progressives need to reckon with the notion that women who aspire to be president are seen as inherently less trustworthy.

    It’s not just her rating from the NRA. It’s also the people who have paid to put her in office. Frankly I don’t trust her because of that. With Sanders I at least know his positions are genuine.

    If we preemitively oppose women running because we think they can't win, they will NEVER win. If Sanders wins the next primary, great. I want progressives to back him. But did we not just have an election where people felt one candidate was given unfair support over the rest?

    I can't argue with Elizabeth M.'s statement. So the only thing left is to point out that the best possible strategy for victory would be to vote in the primary for the one more likely to beat Trump. That was been Bernie Sanders.
