Unfortunately, I think it’s because the neoliberal class prefers fascist authoritarianism over leftist democracy. The mentality of people in power is “if I can’t have control, than nobody can! Especially the f**king peasants!” In the end, that’s how they think of us, peasants.
I think the real question is: why are there Jews on the left and why do reactionary pundits today, as they did in the 1930s, smear the left as Putin/Stalin stooges? Also, "NYC-based former shtetlnicks" lol
