Mainstream American media will keep the focus on individual athletes, weed, and sports. Nah, entire communities have been harmed by that body. Systemic racism doesn't go away when we choose sports as our escapism.

Expand the convo. Sha'Carri Richardson's disqualification, as well as Christine Mboma's and Beatrice Masilingi's withdrawals, are part of the continued history of anti-Black racism by the IOC. Beyond the games, the IOC is tied to human rights violations against Black people.
