T. R. M. Howard–who was rich–helped by finding evidence and witnesses in the Till case. Howard utilized his resources to locate and provide refuge and protection for witnesses. Howard also founded the "Regional Council of Negro Leadership" in Mississippi. He took on the task of providing protection for Mamie Till by helping transport her to safe houses to keep her whereabouts unknown to white people looking to kill her.
Howard had to leave Mississippi shortly after the Emmett Till case because he and his family was under the constant threat of violence. White supremacists knew he was rich, organizing and organized in self-defense, building Black power in Mississippi, and housed freedom fighters.

My key takeaway from Emmett Till is that any Black activist, journalist, and organizer involved was flirting with death by investigating and amplifying it; They did it anyway. Also, the impacted was protected. Mamie Till had SAFEHOUSES. Plural. Meaning there was a broad community
Can you imagine how organized and trusting you have to be to set up a network of safe houses, where people openly house Mamie Till while fully knowing they're putting their lives at risk? People willing to transport her? Regular-schmegular people.
Oh, Medgar was about 30 years old. Ruby was like 46. Amzie Moore was 44. Miss me with constant romanticized calls for youth to take radical action because others' time has passed. No. lol No one is too old to fight for justice.
