I don’t know where the idea came from that being mean to people in your research group will lead to higher productivity, but it needs to end. Not only is this unethical, but it is also ineffective. The best research happens when people are supported and treated with kindness.

A timely piece given that we have the #COP15 going on now We need to move away from just "blaming population" and focus on consumption patterns to target and instrumentalise tools that target genuine drivers of biodiversity loss through unsustainable use

Proof is here. Life is surprising; I will be an author. I’ve been humbled by the generosity of people who have made this book possible. I couldn’t have written alone — no one does. This book is for the legacy of Birsa Munda, his memory and politics. The book is due in 2023 🌈

A reminder for leaders on World Mental Health Day: One of the most powerful things you can do to support mental health in your workplace is to create a culture of inclusion where everyone can feel a sense of belonging and acts of kindness are the norm.

The problem is not people being uneducated. The problem is that people are educated just enough to believe what they have been taught, and not educated enough to question anything from what they have been taught. 🧠

Looking forward to speaking in #ICAS2022 conference that looks at air pollution through a climate lens. Hybrid event in Bangalore next week.

Despite the commonalities & linkages between #AirPollution & #ClimateChange, we have mostly looked at them in silos. With both crises now escalating, #CSTEP takes a different approach at #ICAS2022. Join us. Dates: 23-26 Aug Register: ow.ly/RpuK50KfT9y #CSTEP #ASICIndia

Some reviewers approach a manuscript only focused on what they think is wrong. Other reviewers approach a manuscript genuinely wanting to help the authors make it better. Kindness and rigor do not have to be mutually exclusive.

"Loss and Damage" in climate change discourse is the minimal form of grievance - if not the most rightful claim, from people from the global South. The wretched history of colonialism continues to shape the soil, water, air - of all which is abundant, given as right in the North.

I remember breaking down to my Ph.D. advisor about how stupid I felt while troubleshooting a problem in my project when she handed me this paper. Years later it is still relevant to young students starting off in Science. It's ok to feel stupid, we all do on a regular basis.
