$800 per month is $28 per day or $196 per week. Could you find a place to rent, buy food and pay for your phone bill with that much money? I know I wouldn’t be able to.

My point was the exact opposite. America is such a rich country. It’s a disgrace to see how your government treats your citizens. There should be more social housing and better benefits. I’m studying so I get $740 per fortnight. I can’t imagine $800 per month

Not everyone who receives government benefits is on drugs, everyone who studies in Australia receives a payment. Besides, drug addicts are people too - they need to eat etc. & how could they sober up without money? It’d be impossible.

If I was homeless I’d probably do drugs too because it’d be cold, hungry and uncomfortable all the time. You have to give people a chance. Besides, both our countries are rich enough to provide shelter for every homeless person but they decide not to. It’s callous.

So you're in favor of central American drug dealers operating freely there without fear of prosecution from
@chesaboudin who thinks they are victims and forced to work.1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes -

I’m not even American but obviously I don’t think drug dealers are good. Everyone deserves housing in first world countries tho, whether they have the money or not I doubt drug dealers are so low on money that they need public housing. I’m talking about addicts/recovering addicts

Some probably are forced to “work”. Modern slavery is very common. Domestic servitude, sexual slavery, child labour/sex slavery, forced marriage - children & women.
maybe some people are forced to sell drugs by cartels too?
