Including child porn? Beheadings? Literal propaganda videos? Clearly they have to draw the line somewhere to avoid breaking the law.

Exactly. They draw the line at the law. Simple.

Which laws, where? They vary by country.

US law is the best about free speech, so it would make sense to follow US law to have the minimum level of censorship

That's completely subjective. Ask members of other countries and they'll tell you their laws are the best. Are you even familiar with, say, Swedish laws on free speech? What about the EU's "right to be forgotten" legislation?

The US has the least amount of active censorship and any laws that violate this are deemed unconstitutional. Many other countries have "hate speech" laws, which are unfortunately supported by many, but that doesn't make them right. US laws censor the least, so they are the best.

It is your opinion that less censorship = better. Say a country had no censorship of anything, including violence, terrorism, child porn, etc. That all these were legal to show. Would you support that country's laws on the grounds that less censorship is better?

No, because many of those things are objectively harmful or directly violate someone's rights in some way, which should be against the law, whereas something as loosely and selectively defined as "hate speech" cannot be objectively harmful and only accomplishes censorship.

Is a threat of violence objectively harmful?
