Doesn't seem like enough forfeitable property to me. Threats to his life and the prospect of even greater rewards overseas could be enough to induce him to flee.
Plus, how much of the property he'd lose if he skips out is stuff the government would seize if he's convicted? He may figure he's losing it either way, so he may as well lose it in service of getting out of here.
