Seems like a good time to revisit where things stand re: the three emoluments clause cases against Trump. These are some of the longest-running cases filed against Trump since he took office that are still pending:

1) CREW v. Trump: - a 2nd Circuit panel ruled in September that the case could go forward - per today's order (see above), a majority of judges voted against revisiting the Sept. ruling en banc - Trump/DOJ can either go back to fighting in the district court or petition SCOTUS

2) DC/MD v. Trump: - en banc 4th Circuit revived the case in May, finding a three-judge panel was wrong to take up Trump's appeal midway through litigation before a Maryland federal judge - Trump's lawyer vowed to petition SCOTUS, but that doesn't appear to have happened yet

3) Blumenthal v. Trump (lawsuit filed by Dems in Congress): - DC Circuit panel ruled in February that Dems didn't have standing to sue - Dems filed a cert petition with SCOTUS in July, so we'll find out in the fall if the justices will take up the case

tldr: No judge has ruled yet on the *merits* of whether Trump has violated the emoluments clauses of the Constitution. There are three pending cases, and its uncertain — but seems unlikely — we'll get a ruling on the core issue before the election
