This lawsuit is forward-looking — it defines the class of people who would be covered by it as asylum seekers who are traveling to the US or who have tried to enter the US since Oct. 31 (which was yesterday)

The lawsuit claims a few things:
1) That Trump and other officials saying they won't let the caravan in means they're going to deny people the right to seek asylum
2) That the admin has a policy of mandatory detention for asylum seekers w/out a chance to challenge designation

Many citizens of other countries are legitimately proud of their origins and are deeply troubled by the current state of affairs. Just as 60% of Americans are right now.

Historically (since 2010) over 75% are denied asylum because coming from a neighborhood with gang violence doesn’t qualify you for asylum under US Law. Yet we have to let them in then try and find them somehow to deport them after their case is heard. -.-
