I wonder what Xbox Series X|S's number is so far, not as a "console war" thing, but because at this point it's literally a "how many have Sony and Microsoft made" thing – since every console made from both companies is being sold.

Sony has revealed that it has shipped 4.5 million PS5s in 2020, the same amount of PS4s it shipped during its launch in 2013.

Why is Sony able to manufacture more, if that is indeed what's happening? A better pipeline or better deals with supplies? I'm curious what differentiates the numbers at this point. Thanks for the insight.

Microsoft started manufacturing later than Sony. That's just one of many issues that both companies are facing in regards to component supply, logistics issues etc...

I would probably estimate that Xbox barely hit 3M if they did.

Yeah 3.3-3.4M is what I estimate Sell through should then be ~3M, which is what XB1 sold in 2013 So PS5 and XBS would be matching their predecessors, just Xbox couldn't ship the same amount.
