An update on gambling on Twitch.

Gambling content on Twitch has been a big topic of discussion in the community, and something we’ve been actively reviewing. Today, we want to update you on our plans. While we prohibit sharing links or referral codes to all sites that include slots, roulette, or dice games, we’ve seen some people circumvent those rules and expose our community to potential harm.

We’ll be making a policy update on 10/18 to prohibit streaming of gambling sites that include slots, roulette, or dice games that aren't licensed either in the U.S. or other jurisdictions that provide sufficient consumer protection. These sites will include Stake, Rollbit, Duelbits, and Roobet. However, we may identify others as we move forward.

We will continue to allow websites that focus on sports betting, fantasy sports, and poker.

We’ll share specifics on the updates to our Gambling policy soon, including the full policy language, to make sure everyone is clear on our new rules before they take effect on 10/18.

Small correction that Syndicate was actually the first AC game to feature Arabic dubbing, but it was exclusive to console versions in the Middle East. Mirage is the first to do it globally. But beyond that, this is an excellent thread!

Images and videos is one thing. The worst case scenario would be a source code leak that requires a near complete rewrite. That would set the game release date back years. The key part in the statement above is that work is set to continue as planned.

It's still unclear if there will be additional leaks at this point. The worry is that if source code related content does leak, and it is materially important to the game, it could lead to exploits / hacks for the game. That would require Rockstar to work out those issues.

Rockstar Games reiterated that the hack will not disrupt current services or development timelines in a filing with the SEC. In other words, it doesn't sound like the leak contained anything, including source code related content, that would cause material harm to development

A new report from Nikkei states a high number of PlayStation 5 consoles sold in Japan are being imported to and resold in China. According to Ebay, the number of PS5s sold during Q2 2022 from Japan was up 10.7x compared to the same period last year.

China's video game regulator approved 73 domestic games for release on September 13. Tencent and NetEase received approvals for 1 game each. This is the first time in over a year that the firms have received a new license, due to a freeze on approvals in the past year.

Splatoon 3 sold more than 3.45 million units in Japan during its first 3 days. This not only makes it the fastest selling Switch game in Japan, beating Animal Crossing, it also makes it the fastest selling game of all time in Japan.
