reminds me of when we'd go to cons in the late 90s/early 2000s, when entire floors would use inexpertly looped/DA'd coax cable to supply cable TV. ONE person on the floor would plug their console in, and then every TV on the floor would be forced to watch them play street fighter

In Show # 215 - Anime Was Whamageddon Even Before The Song Existed we've picked a selection of Christmas-themed anime episodes, arranged in order of "least Christmas-y" to "most Christmas-y." Plenty we didn't discuss, but there's always next year!

The man in charge of Planet Entertainment, the company who's now been ruled to have illegally released a Cooking Mama game, is Steve Grossman. Grossman had previously run ASC Games in the 90s & XS Games in the 00s. Yes, the same guy who published Castle Shikigami 2 on the PS2!

And yet, I have here Voltes V, a show from the 70's. Please, tell me this is "too hard" to sell... twitter.com/AOYPodcast/sta twitter.com/AOYPodcast/sta

Man, I would love to make those recommendations but do you know how many people just do not have ANY interest in watching shows that came out before they were born? It's such a hard sell....
And here I am holding a soft spot for 0083. Look, 2/3 of that OVA is great, its what I enjoy the most. Then you got the last two-ish episodes. Just don't focus on those. The last 10 or so minutes is solid in the last episode. My hot take.

If you went to anime cons in the 90s or 2000s or so you likely ran into this tall brother named Kevin Lillard who was capturing cosplay pics left and right. Per a relative's post, Kevin left this world last Tuesday due to health issues. R.I.P. man. :'(

lol. And there, encapsulated succinctly, is the attitude I and my colleagues have been pushing back against our entire careers. Animation is only considered “just for kids” in the US, and that’s partly because of Disney’s hegemony and attitudes like this from some leadership.

Disney’s 🤡CEO explaining how animation is strictly for kids: “I always say that when [parents] put their kids to bed at night after watching [an animated film], they're probably not going to tune into another animated movie. They want something for them."
