How true do you think it is? And what biases come into play where it's not? Partly, maybe, when I was 22, I could code from noon to 6 AM almost every day. I thought of "a day's work" as literally 18 hours of uninterrupted work. That's a workweek now, counting meetings.

Every once in a while i'll do a little side project for an evening, not to ship anything or even finish, just to have some 'productive code manipulation' feeling. Last one was a slideshow maker. Feels good to start from scratch and just feel like you're moving.

I'm sure that working in the largest monolithic codebase in the world probably has something to do with your feeling :P
