So if the medicine kills us, and the ventilators kill us, and the hospital can't do anything for us, why can't we just go back to work then? Evidently there's nothing we can do right now anyway, why kill the economy?

Its not like the economy can function normally with the disease running rampant. Look at the meat plants shutting down after their workforces get devastated. We're best off getting the virus contained before fully open up because the virus is more destructive in the long run.
