Just in case I’m your only source of tax info, ’s proposal to tax the super rich at a higher rate is not new (we did it for decades & they were still stinking rich) AND the higher rate is ONLY on the $ you “earn” OVER $10M. Your 1st $10M=taxed at LOWER rate.

Racism is not a past grievance. It's happening in 2019. The refusal to deal with reality of systemic racism-- which is central to issues such as voting rights, policing, healthcare & education--will prevent any progress on these issues & further lead to deterioration of society

This is a good discussion of AOC's call for a top tax rate of 70-80%. Tl; dr: she's actually saying what top public finance economists have been saying for some time. Not at all outlandish. 1/

Universal background checks are a very good first step toward building a system that will make firearms significantly harder to get. They are just the beginning though -- we have to fight for much tougher policies (like licensing!) that will help build a future with *fewer guns*

Mainline dems need to realize that the 2016 revolt wasn't a personality cult around Sanders, or even personal hostility to Clinton. Most of us are open to a range of candidates. We have some specific litmus tests, two of the biggest of which are rejection of Wall St & Big Oil.

The conservative fury around Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez isn’t just about what high school she went to or what nicknames she used. It’s about how the country is changing and young people are leaving the Republican Party behind, writes Matt Yglesias.

The stuff Trump says is so dumb, so blatantly untrue, so pathetic and so obviously lies or disinformation everyone should know it by now. There should no longer be a need to say he's lying. So there's only two options to explain : they're either morons.... or horsefaces.

The amount the U.S. loses in annual tax avoidance, at current rates, without having to raise them a penny, is simply staggering.
