My son’s class will have ten kids, two teachers. Same kids every day. Same teachers every day, with masks. They’ll wash hands at least every hour. Everything washed multiple times a day. Pediatrician says it’s a risk but understands taking it. Why are we reopening colleges?

Between the two kids and their teachers, we’ll be exposed to 21 families. The doctor said it would be better if those families were staying home — no vacation, no visitors, work from home. Obviously this isn’t the reality, but I think many will be keeping outside contact minimal.

Also, here’s some more rules: - 14 day exclusion period for a fever in either child or a family member - temperature and symptom check at drop off for parent and children - parents can’t visit classrooms - timed windows for dropoff and pickup And it’s still terrifying.

Oh! And! There’s compliance checks. Visits from state officials, certification checks, rules can change any moment, town board of health can say “nope, close down” any time with no warning. Failure to comply means losing their *provisional* operating license.

Pretty much what our kid’s school is doing. I feel like moving forward requires community trust but how the fuck do I trust all these insane fucking people complaining about 5G towers and bill gates.

We had a parent meeting that helped reassure me a bit. I've asked if we can have a parent and teacher group meeting whenever the kids are assigned to their new classrooms. At least it would make clear what the ratio of conspiracy theorist parents is.
