fitness pals: has anyone done the StrongLifts 5X5 Workout? i'm still researching how to switch my routine up and this seems like it might be a good jumping off point. the sets seem sorta weird to me though. does anyone I know out there use it or have you tried it at all?

I followed this program and got great results in about 5 months while eating well. Gained 4ish lbs of muscle & lost 12lbs of fat, from 24% to 18% bodyfat. Noob gains are real. Maintained for 6 months until I got an injury about a year ago that prevents me from lifting as heavy.

Have done this multiple times in the past and have always used it as a default when I’ve been too lazy to program more intricately. It’s a VERY solid starting point for building muscular strength. What about it seems weird?

the idea that it's just three exercises, three times a week seems low. I dunno, I have no idea what i'm doing.

Those are just meant to be main movements, for folks that are completely new it’s fine to just hit the 3 5x5 sets. What’s expected later on is that 2-4 accessory movements will be added targeting the same muscle groups as the barbell exercises.
