i'm not gonna rt that Steven Crowder video making the rounds today because it fucking sucks. however, today seems like a pretty good day for @YouTube to do something (or anything?) about Crowder and creators like him who skirt their harassment and hate speech policies.

the thing about these dudes, and yes, they're mostly dudes, is that they see things like the American Rescue Plan's attempts to lessen the gap for black farmers as threat to them for... some reason?

they have absolutely zero frame of reference for an experience outside of their own so anything that doesn't jive with that experience must be patently false. they complain about echo chambers, but kotow to their own audiences' prejudices despite "not being racist."

and the shitty thing is: they're good at it. it's not a hot take or new info to say that these creators know exactly how to walk up to the line without overstepping. they've built entire business models off of it.
