I think I’m nearing the end of TLOU2. So far it’s an utter masterpiece but I do have one criticism: I think there’s too much of it. The game is too long.

I want to say that is by design, and I love that aspect of its endgame? It worked for me but I know what you mean.

I totally understand that, and I even get why it’s structured this way. The extremely heavy story and content might be contributing also. Nonetheless it’s an utter masterpiece.

i've said this several times to folks, but yeah, i agree here. the storytelling is incredible, but i think the game would be much better served by losing about 1/3 of it's encounters. all the story and set-piece stuff is amazing, but there are too many sneaky/combat segments.

This. I don’t remember combat encounters being this plentiful in the first game, especially when you hit the second half. It got to a point where I encountered more Scars and just sighed with frustration.

not to be that reply guy, but we stealthed through a lot of that. those encounters were ammo draining in the last act, and we just...kinda had to sneak through! even on easy! so i dug it for that survival challenge aspect.

i think part of it is also chalked up to the fact that a lot of us are fucking SLAMMING through this game. i plan on going back to it before the end of the year and playing through it slowly, spacing out my play sessions. see if that lessons this feeling.
