having a weird issue with my PS4: got a new router and created a new network over the weekend and my PS4 refuses to recognize it on start up? every time i wake my ps4 up, i have to set up a connection through my new network. anyone know what’s up? (yes i’ve turned it on/off)

It was the switching. Not sure which is recommended but I have been using the 5g band with no problem now.

To piggyback off of this use the 5 if you have a good signal. The 5 gives more speed, yet reaches a shorter distance and it's the opposite for 2.4.

2.4 is better if your system isn't very close to the router and if there are a lot of wifi connections around you (so if you live in a building with lots of apartments); 5 is better if your system is close to the router and if you don't have too much interference.

Also I think older PS4 aren’t 5G compatible.

My launch ps4 only has the 2.4 GHz option, but I always try to connect to ethernet when possible. You should always change the name for your 5Ghz wifi, I always add a _5 at the end of the SSID and that will stop the automatic switching on my cellphone or laptop.
