Final Fantasy XV is one of the weirdest AAA games i’ve ever played. the combat is totally bizarre, the story makes no sense, there are huge portions of the game obviously missing (even early on) but i’m... sorta into it? it’s so charming and gorgeous, i wanna see it through.pic.twitter.com/gg1VFUqQrp

FF12 is my favorite FF because of the battle system. When XV gets cookin', it's the closest I've seen besides Xenoblade Chronicles.

Yes! 12's combat has the best of both turn based and real time; neither too slow nor frantic. I know a lot of people hated gambits, but using them to good effect (and changing them up for different enemies) adds a decent strategy element that was missing from the main series.

Yeah, I think you have to be ready to spend a LOT of time managing gambits and really knowing their 'language', which might not be for everyone, but it is the best answer I've ever seen to the complaint that "the AI is worthless".

the gambit system is still ahead of its time and that game came out 14 years ago.
