which will history say is the more iconic duo?

Well that is a bit hyperbolic, but I'm with Frank here. Out of those 4, GoW is the only one that has stuck in my brain as a true masterpiece of game making. They are all impressive, fantastic games but GoW is in a league of its own.

hyperbole is admittedly my specialty. but we’re already seeing so many games take bits and pieces from BotW’s playbook. i think all these games are absolutely incredible (hence this poll), but i’d be hard pressed to be convinced that BotW is anything less than a game changer.

And you know, that would be a testament to how influential Nintendo is and has been. Again, I thoroughly loved BoTW, I see why it is loved. I guess you could see Nintendo's games as not fixing what isn't broken and Sony's as how taking risks can pay off in a major way!

i think that we feel opposite ways about each game. i think BotW is innovation, where GoW is refinement. both nearly perfect for different reasons and both way up on my list! also, wasn’t a huge horizon fan, but get the adoration for it.

I think that is a bit much, most of what BotW did was done in the past. The clones of it are very obvious and there isn't a major game that has done it, they just iterate on it as BotW did other open world titles.
