weight-lifting pals: i think i have to give up on deadlifts? can’t get past a certain weight (this time it was 270lbs) without seriously hurting my back. i go slow, i concentrate on having as perfect form as possible, and i still end up walking like an old man for a week. why?

1. Age is an issue. The older you get, the harder it is to recover. Tis unfortunate but such is life 2. Don't work at 270lbs if your back is rounding at all. The more you ingrain this habit, the harder it is to break. 3 ... -> see next tweet

3. Work at lighter weight for more reps and sets. Come back and try 270+ in 4-5 weeks. 4. Ideally, you'd be looking at working at weights that are heavy enough to make you work but light enough to focus on technique. Something like 220*5 for 5. 5. Have fun and be patient =)
